Are You Ready to Make Your Mark?


If you are not licensed, Stigma is searching for a new Piercing Apprentice! This is a great opportunity for a young lady to create a life-long career you can take anywhere in the world. Whether you're a aspiring piercer, or simply passionate about body art, we want to hear from you!


State Requirements


To apply, you must meet certain state requirements:


  1. Be at least 18 years old and have a valid ID.

  2. Hold a High School Diploma or GED equivalency.

  3. Have no prior violent or sexual criminal convictions.

  4. Pass the State Written Exam.

  5. Pass the State Practical Exam.

  6. Be able to pay the fees of $150.

  7. Obtain Bloodborne Pathogen Certification.

  8. Complete 400 hours of apprenticeship training.


Stigma Requirements


Stigma has its own set of criteria for potential apprentices. Our shop is a female environment, and we focus on supporting women in the tattoo industry. Here are the key requirements:


  1. We are an female dominant shop and do not train male piercers at this location.

  2. Piercing requires a strong understanding of geometry, prior sewing/embroidery experience.

  3. Stigma promotes a cooperative environment. All apprentices should spend at least a month learning the front desk and interacting with our artists. This helps ensure that this career and shop fit you well.

  4. You must maintain a calm demeanor. The ability to handle stress is essential due to the high-energy clientele.

  5. A solid grasp of anatomy and wound care is vital. We encourage continuous study and staying updated on industry standards.

  6. Steady lining skills are a must.

  7. Punctuality and proper attire are important. You should be able to keep up with scheduled appointments.

  8. Being comfortable working in a fast-paced atmosphere is necessary.

  9. You should work well with others and hold an interest in supporting fellow women in this industry while caring for our female clientele.

  10. There may be opportunities for relocation in the future.

10. If you have strong political beliefs or identify as a social justice "warrior," please reconsider applying. Our focus is on nurturing women in their art, family, and future, rather than engaging in political matters.


What to Expect from Your Apprenticeship


At Stigma Ink, we do not charge for an apprenticeship. Instead, we require a 3 year fulfillment contract to be completed upon licensing. This ensures that you commit fully to your training and professional development, while giving back to the shop for the career training.


Apprenticeships typically span from 6 months to 2 years until licensing is achieved. During this period, you'll gain invaluable experience in tattoo artistry and the workings of a tattoo and piercing shop.
